Seltzer or Soda Waters - How Healthy are they?
In recent years, America has seen the rise of the Soda Pop with millions of gallons being consumed in this country each year. Many people drink multiple sodas each day and newer studies are showing sodas filled with sugar and empty calories may be contributing to the growing obesity issue in our nation today; as well as other health problems. Some consumers are beginning to recognize the dangers and have begun a change to drinking seltzer and soda “waters” as alternative and healthier drinks to soda pop.
Although many are switching over to seltzer water and flavored soda waters instead of drinking name brand soda there are some who wonder whether or not these beverage choices are actually healthier or just a jazzed up version of the same old problem. Believe it or not, these new choices of seltzer water and soda waters actually are a great deal healthier than most sodas. Most are just regular water that has been carbonated and are just as healthy as water alone but with a bit more pizzazz and zip to them. They even top out diet sodas, since they are not filled with artificial sweeteners, which in some cases can be harmful.
If you want a drink with a bit more flavor than the plain seltzer waters, you may want to check out the flavored waters. These types of waters are naturally flavored and do not contain sugar or artificial sweeteners and give water a whole new flavor. You can reap all the great health benefits of drinking your eight glasses of water daily, while enjoying great flavors such as lemon, peach, strawberry and lime. What a great way to enjoy staying hydrated and healthy.
Take a good look at the ingredient labels to make sure that there is not a great deal of sugar or sodium added along with the tasty flavor. While many of the seltzer water and soda water choices today are excellent and healthy drinks, there are some things that you may want to watch out for; some of these waters may be adding other ingredients. One thing you really need to watch out for is the sodium content. Some of these waters can have very high sodium contents in order to give them flavor. In this case, the seltzer or soda waters containing high sodium may actually dehydrate you instead of giving you the hydration that you need. (For example: normal Seltzer Water is just Water with Carbonation where normal Club Soda is Water with Carbonation plus Sodium.)
Another reason that seltzer and soda waters can be a healthier alternative is the additions of minerals and vitamins to them. While just drinking plain water is great for you, these new water products can help you get some of the extra nutrients that you may not be getting every day in your diet. While some may not have a significant amount of vitamins and minerals in them, every bit definitely helps when it comes to your health. Those who have low mineral deficiencies may be great candidates for drinking this type of water as well.
If you want to make seltzer water even healthier for you, you may want to consider making your own mixtures. You can mix carbonated water with various fruit juices to get a healthy drink, which is like a soda, to fill your “fizzy” craving. Seltzer waters also make great additives with warm versions, like apple cider as well. A great tasting drink and a healthy drink no longer have to be different things. You can have a great tasting drink that is healthy for you without drinking a great deal of empty calories that will add to your waistline.
All in all, more health conscience Americans will be making the switch to seltzer and soda waters instead of drinking sugar and sodium added soda pop. While sodas tend to dehydrate you, these tasty new waters can help you stay hydrated and will leave you feeling much better. If you want a wonderful healthy alternative for you, your family and for your growing children, these drinks can be great choices!

Sodastream formerly Soda-club: AN INTRODUCTION
Sleek and stylish, the home soda maker is a countertop appliance about the size of a coffeemaker that transforms water into fresh, fizzy seltzer/sparkling water at the push of a button. Soda makers operate without batteries, electricity or plumbing, so they are simple to use in a kitchen and great for bringing along on a boat, RV or to a second home. Making seltzer and soda takes just seconds and requires no clean-up.
A reusable, one-liter carbonating bottle (provided by Sodastream formerly Soda-club) is filled with water and screwed into the machine fitting. A CO2 carbonator, housed inside the soda maker, adds carbonation at the touch of a button – as much or as little as the consumer prefers. After carbonating the water, the soda drinker simply adds a capful from one of over 25 sodamix flavors to make his or her favorite, great-tasting soda.
Despite recently arriving in the US market, Sodastream formerly Soda-club is the global leader of in-home carbonation. Over the past decade, Sodastream formerly Soda-club’s home soda makers and soda-making accessories have been sold into over 10 million households in 18 countries around the world. In fact, it is estimated that over 800 million liters of water are carbonated with Sodastream formerly Soda-club’s system worldwide each year.
PRODUCT AVAILBILITY
Sodastream formerly Soda-club products are available through select retailers, plus several catalogs and internet stores. Our primary focus is building our business on the web. Online revenue doubled in 2005 and we expect online revenue to double again in 2006. As we continue our PR efforts, and as consumers begin to become aware of Sodastream formerly Soda-club (actually, the entire concept of in-home carbonation) we expect that demand will increase exponentially, creating a unique opportunity for affiliates looking to earn healthy commissions. Indeed, we consider our Affiliate Program to be an integral part of our e-commerce growth plan.
BENEFITS OF FRESHLY MADE SODA AND SELTZER
With a home soda maker, a household will save in many ways - save trips to the store, save lugging and storage, save the environment, save sugar and sodium…and save money!
With Sodastream formerly Soda-club, soda stays fizzy, thanks to a special hermetic seal in the carbonating bottle caps. That means no more flat, wasted soda. A home soda maker and concentrated sodamix flavors means no more lugging and storing soda. Each bottle of sodamix is about the size of a can of soda but contains enough syrup to make 12 one-liter bottles (about 36 cans) of soda. So, Sodastream formerly Soda-club is great for families and for anyone with tight space, including RVers, boaters, college students and urban dwellers.
Sodastream formerly Soda-club seltzer/sparkling water has several advantages over store-bought. First, the carbonation can be customized. Secondly, seltzer/sparkling water made with a Sodastream formerly Soda-club machine contains no sodium, unlike many store-bought brands. A Sodastream formerly Soda-club household will save as much as 50% over store-bought seltzer/sparkling water.
Sodastream formerly Soda-club sodas are a sensible alternative to store-bought sodas. Sodastream formerly Soda-club’s regular sodamix flavors have 2/3 less sugar, calories, carbs and sodium than regular store-bought soda. Diet flavors are of course sugar-free, contain less sodium than store-bought diet flavors and contain no aspartame – all diet flavors are sweetened with Splenda® brand sweetener.
And finally, soda and seltzer households will save money with Sodastream formerly Soda-club. Seltzer starts at just 17 cents per liter; soda starts at just 42 cents per liter. Sodastream formerly Soda-club even offers an Energy Drink sodamix that consumers can make for about 25 cents per serving (compared to $1.99 per serving in the store.) Sodastream formerly Soda-club is an even greater value when you consider that you’ll stop pouring money down the drain with flat, wasted bottles of store-bought soda. And no more lost deposit fees for customers in bottle bill states. Plus, you’ll help the environment by cutting down on all those cases of store-bought cans and bottles.
